How to Make Garlic Bread

Finding ready-to-eat garlic bread is relatively easy nowadays. Some bakeries even carry several permutations, from buttered baguettes and cream-filled buns to sourdough loaves and herbed crostini. But if you forget to buy one before shops close on a Sunday, making a batch yourself isn’t an exact science. Here’s a simple, no-knead method to bake garlic bread – just in time for your kid’s first day back in school.

Ingredients:

• ½ cup butter, melted
• 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 baguette, halved lengthwise
• 2 tbsp minced fresh parsley

Method:

1. Combine butter and garlic in a bowl; mix well.
2. Generously spread butter mixture on the insides of the baguette. Sprinkle parsley on top. Place bread, cut side up, on a baking sheet.
3. Bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 8 minutes. Broil for another 2 minutes for a golden-brown finish.

From here, you can already enjoy the garlic bread on its own or pair it with soup. You can also slice it into cubes to make croutons. But for an energizing back-to-school treat, use them to make sandwiches.

1. Slice the bread: Make 4-6 cuts on top of each roll. Make sure not to slice all the way through. Set aside.
2. Prepare the filling: Combine ¼ cup softened cream cheese and 4 tbsp sugar in a bowl. Transfer to a piping bag.
3. Make the garlic butter: Combine ½ cup melted butter, 3 tsp Lady’s Choice Real Mayonnaise, ¼ cup milk or heavy cream, ¼ cup condensed milk, 1 egg, 3 cloves garlic (chopped), and dried parsley in a bowl.
