Make your life easier by using Knorr Crab and Corn Soup instant mixes. To recreate the restaurant experience at home, crack an egg into the pot! It's ready to serve as is, but why stop there? Read on to learn how you can turn this side dish into a hearty main with a few simple tweaks.

How to Cook Crab and Corn Soup

You only need a few minutes to make this classic soup using an instant mix. Remember these three steps: Combine powdered soup and water in a pot, boil while stirring, and stir in a fresh egg. Let it simmer until it reaches your desired consistency. Done!

Got extra time on your hands? Take the dish further with a few tweaks inspired by making it from scratch. Instead of water, use chicken or seafood broth made with Knorr Shrimp Cubes. Add more flaked alimasag meat (the kind you use to make torta!) and corn by slicing kernels off a cob. Is the soup too thin for your liking? Combine equal parts cornstarch and water to make a slurry; mix into the soup to thicken. Make sure to whisk to prevent any lumps!

Crab and Corn Soup Variations

It’s time to upgrade your crab and corn soup recipe and make it even heartier! These add-ons will take it from simple to satisfying.

1. More seafood

Turn your side soup into a main-worthy seafood chowder by loading it with tuna, shrimp, squid, and other filling ingredients. You can use this recipe as a starting point and adjust it to work with what's available.

Begin by lightly coating your tuna in flour and cornstarch. Fry it until brown, then set it aside. Sauté garlic, onions, shrimp, squid, and diced bell peppers in oil with a Knorr Chicken Cube. This addition will give your dish a deeper flavor with minimal effort! Once cooked, add your soup and tuna before simmering together. Don’t forget to garnish with green onions and serve with crusty bread!

2. Hot pot balls

Bulk it up with protein-rich hot pot balls! Fish, squid, and chicken variants are worthy additions, like in this recipe for three pearl crab and corn soup. Bring your base to a boil before adding the assorted balls. Finish with sliced crabsticks just before serving.

3. Chicken

Add chicken to your soup to make a nutri-sarap dish. You can cook your chicken fillets using a few different methods. Try poaching them in chicken broth, pan-frying until they develop a bit of browning, or roasting until tender. Once cooked, shred your chicken into strips or cut it into chunks. Add the pieces to your soup, and enjoy! Before you know it, you'll have yourself a new rainy-day favorite.

4. Malunggay leaves

Keep your soup simple, budget-friendly, and nutritious with malunggay leaves. This local green veg has a mild and versatile taste, so you can add it to different dishes without changing their profile. Widely considered a "superfood," it's full of vitamins and minerals that enhance crab and corn soup benefits. Easy immunity boost for the family!

5. Noodles

What’s more comforting than noodle soup? Any noodle will do in this dish! You can use a packet of instant ramen and save the seasoning for later. Fresh egg noodles like miki or lomi will turn this into a Filipino-style crab and corn soup. You can even go for pasta. Whatever you go for, cook them until bouncy and al dente – no one wants mushy noodles!

6. Rice

This Filipino mealtime staple goes with anything, and this soup is no exception. You can serve a bowl of freshly cooked rice on the side. Or mix it into the soup before serving to make something similar to congee. Fluffy rice will complement the dish's creamy texture. Plus, it's a reliable source of energizing carbs!

7. Toasted pandesal

Introduce new textures and flavors to your meal by pairing your soup with crunchy buttered bread. You can have a few pieces of pandesal ready on the side for dipping or mopping up the last spoonfuls of soup! Alternatively, chop your bread into smaller squares for homemade croutons. Sprinkle them over just before serving for maximum crispness.
